Job Requirements
- Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) or equivalent.
- Registered Veterinary Surgeons possess a current and valid Annual Practicing Certificate issued by the Registrar.
- Internal Medicine - Knowledge in diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases. This requires great knowledge and understanding of animal anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, diagnostic tests, and drug indication and interaction.
- Diagnostic Imaging - Knowledge in performing radiograph and ultrasound studies, and the ability to interpret the results. This includes knowledge in basic physics, radiation safety, and contrast study.
- Client Communication and Education - Knowledge of providing customers all necessary information about pet healthcare e.g preventive medicine, pet nutrition, common diseases, disease description, treatment regime and protocol, treatment quotation, treatment outcome etc.
- Able to work in Malaysia.
Job Responsibilities
- To uphold the dignity and ethics in the practice of companion animal medicine and surgery and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
- To inform, liaise and educate the public with regard to matters pertaining to the welfare and well-being of companion animals with special reference to preventive medicine and disease control.
- Establish or conduct quarantine or testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals or to humans and that comply with applicable government regulations.
- To take the initiative in improving knowledge and skills specifically in diagnosis, treatment, and related veterinary practice.
- Provide care to a wide range of animals.
- Vaccinate animals against various diseases such as parvovirus, distemper, etc. according to guidelines provided.
- Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
- Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, wound dressing, and/or performing surgery (soft tissue or orthopedic).
- Operate instruments, such as radiographic or ultrasound equipment, and interpret the resulting images.
- Train or supervise employees who handle or care for animals.
- Conduct postmortem studies and analyses to determine the causes of animals' deaths.
- Direct the overall operations of animal hospitals, clinics, or house call services.
- Pet euthanasia to end animal suffering from traumatic injury, abuse, neglect, or sickness.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, and maintaining the Vetcare practice management system and drugs records.
